Corporate events are a big part of being in the business world today. Sure there are the ever present business lunches, but those do not take any planning—the only you have to do is charge it to your expense account. But what about when you are planning a charity event, or a celebration of a new merger, or a party to impress a new, big client, or a company picnic for all the employees and their friends? There is a considerably higher amount of things to take care of, to worry about, and to get right. If this is the way you are thinking, you are right. But that is not any reason to panic. Corporate event planning can be the most fun thing you have ever done for work. You have expectations placed on you, to be sure, but it shouldn’t follow that you do not meet them. Just get your creative juices flowing a little and you will be surprised how many great ideas will pop into your head, and how much you will impress your clients, coworkers, and bosses. Charity events and company picnics are the best opportunity for you to go a little crazy and get really creative. If you are including families in your employee event, especially little children, it could be fun to create a sort of mini carnival for the picnic, where the children can play carnival games with their parents, and young couples can take a spin on the Ferris wheel. Then you can invite everyone to sit out on blankets and chairs they have brought with them and enjoy some catered picnic food, and homemade desserts brought by the employees. A great idea for a charity event is casino night or board game night. Set up a full scale casino where guests exchange their real money for fake chips and all the proceeds go to the company’s favorite nonprofit organization. You can make it a formal occasion and hire a bartender and dealers for the evening, or invite all the family along and set up a bingo table for the kids. So whether you are planning a party that is for the company’s employees, or to impress its clients, remember that the more creative you are, the more of a success it will be."
